About us

The History of VIP Marquees

The business was first formed by Herbert J Gray in the mid 1800’s and later became Grays of Exeter, in 1972 Black and Edgington took over the company and traded until 1998 when they decided to close the Exeter depot, Ian Clements took on all the hire stock and started VIP Marquees to carry on and provide the excellent service that our cliental had become accustomed too. The family history began when Reginald Clements Worked for Herbert J Gray from 1928 to 1988, his son Ian Clements started working for Grays of Exeter from 1956 and worked until his untimely death in 2009 then David, Ian’s son who started working for Black and Edgington in 1984 took over the business in 2009 to carry on the family tradition following in the footsteps of his grandfather
and father.
